Emsisoft delivers again in the VB100’s March 2025 Test

Testing that reflects the real world
The March 2025 VB100 test results are in. Emsisoft Anti-Malware was tested under Virus Bulletin’s updated 1.7 methodology and passed. Detection rate: 99.39%. False positives: 0.000%.
This is not a one-off result. VB100 certification is part of an ongoing test series. Each round measures core functionality: does the product block threats, and does it avoid unnecessary disruption? Emsisoft delivered on both of these fronts.
Understanding the VB100 standard
VB100 is a long-running certification program from Virus Bulletin. It launched in 1998. Its purpose is simple. Verify whether antivirus products detect known malware and ignore clean files. No fluff. Just pass/fail, based on clear thresholds.
Two things matter:
- The product must detect at least 75% of malware in the Certification set.
- It must not flag more than 0.05% of clean files in the Clean set.If either number is off, the product fails. Relying solely on the testing data.
VB100 doesn’t test everything. It focuses on the basics: malware detection and false alarm control. But it does so in a strict, repeatable, and transparent way.
Methodology: A look under the hood
The March 2025 test used VB100 version 1.7. The platform was Windows 11 Pro, 64-bit (build 10.0.26100). Emsisoft Anti-Malware version 2024.12.0.12633 was tested.
Tests were conducted using on-demand scanning. This is standard when real-time scanning is incompatible with the VB100 test structure. The process is binary. Products either pass or fail.
Virus Bulletin follows the AMTSO Standard. This is a set of rules developed by the Anti-Malware Testing Standards Organization. It ensures that the testing is fair, transparent, and repeatable. All VB100 tests adhere to these standards.
March 2025 results: Emsisoft’s performance
Emsisoft Anti-Malware detected 99.39% of the malware in the Certification set. It produced zero false positives across 100,000 legitimate program files. That’s a pass on both fronts without margin.

Final thoughts
A single high score can be encouraging. But repeated success is what builds trust. Performance that holds up across multiple test cycles, with different malware samples and clean file sets, is harder to achieve.
